From 1st April 2019 Gabapentin and Pregabalin will be classed as controlled drugs. This means that prescriptions for these medications can only be collected from reception with proof of photo ID.

They can no longer be sent to your chemist.  Please bear this in mind when ordering your repeat prescriptions.

Pharmacists must dispense the drugs within 28 days of the prescription being written.

If you have any questions please speak to the Reception Manager.

Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

Repeat Prescriptions

If you take medication on a long-term basis, you can ask for a repeat prescription in any of the following ways:-

  • Telephone (0191) 285 1119 between 10:00am and 17:00pm
  • Drop the tear-off part of a previous prescription into the box provided in reception or at the Reception desk.
  • Prescriptions can also be ordered online by clicking on the link at the top of this page. A login will be required for this service – details of how to sign up are available from reception.

Please order prescriptions twenty four hours in advance. Prescriptions ordered on a Friday will be available the following Monday. Please take into consideration any Bank Holidays when ordering Prescriptions also.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
