Family Planning
Advice on all aspects of family planning is given in routine GP surgeries or by booking an appointment with the Practice Nurse.
Maternity Care
Our antenatal clinic is held on Wednesdays between 13:30 and 16:00. Our Community Midwife Denise Ward is in attendance. Dr Sarah Taylor runs the Antenatal booking clinic for newly pregnant patients on Thursdays.
Minor Surgery
Dr Helen McClelland (assisted by Sister Karen Mee) provides a Minor surgery clinic which is held on alternate Friday mornings. Cryotherapy sessions are held on a Monday morning. Dr Philip Taylor and Dr Dan Parkin offer joint injections.
Dermatology
Dr Helen McClelland has special interest in Dermatology and sees patients referred by colleagues or self-referrals from patients.
Cervical Smears
Smears are taken by the Practice Nurses. If you have not had a smear for three years we strongly advise you to make an appointment. Once you have had a smear your will be recalled every three years or as advised.
Child Health Services
Full child development services and childhood immunisations are available at the Well Baby clinic every Wednesday 9.30am till 11.30am to see the Health Visitor and Practice Nurse and 10:30 till 11:15 to see a GP
Chronic Disease Management
Our Practice Nursing team run weekly clinics for all management of chronic disease such as Coronary Heart Disease, Diabetes, Hypertension, Stroke, Chest problems and Epilepsy. Patients known to have any of these problems will be invited by letter with an appointment to attend for review. It is important that you attend for this appointment so that the nurses can ensure you are receiving the best possible treatment for your condition. It is equally important to attend even if you are experiencing no current problems. By having a review the nurses can ensure that you continue to receive the best treatment for your condition.
If you do not respond to your invitation reminders will be sent and our reception team will endeavour to contact you by phone. If for any reason you do not wish to attend please confirm in writing that you do not want to have review. Our Practice Nurse is available to speak to on the telephone if you wish to discuss any aspect of your chronic disease. We would like to encourage you to attend. We now have evening appointments with our practice nurses.
Learning Disability Health Checks
Our Practice Nursing team carry out annual learning disability health checks on any patients aged 14 and over.
Holiday Vaccinations and Advice
The Practice is a designated Yellow Fever Centre and appointments are available with our Practice Nurse for all holiday vaccinations and advice.
Health Promotion
Appointments are available throughout the week in our Nurse clinics for a variety of screening and advice for a healthy lifestyle, including:
- Family Planning
- HRT/Menopause
- Dietary Advice
- NHS Health Checks
- Blood Pressure Monitoring
Phlebotomy
The Phlebotomist runs weekly clinics on a Monday morning.
Smoking cessation
This clinic is unfortunately no longer available. We would like to advise that patients can go to their local participating pharmacy which will have a smoking cessation clinic available.
