Travel Vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to complete our travel health questionnaire. Paper copies are available at our reception desk or you can download the electronic version here.

It is important to get this form back to the surgery as early as possible – at least six weeks before you travel.  You can return your form to our reception desk or via e-mail to nneccg.gmmc@nhs.nett (please note the surgery takes no responsibility in any loss of personal data should you wish to return your information to us electronically).

Upon receipt of your form, our Practice Nurse Linda will review the information that you have provided and the surgery will contact you to arrange an appointment.  Your appointment will be at least four weeks before you travel to allow for the vaccines to be ordered and for them to provide full immunity once given.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Vaccines provided at the surgery include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Meningitis ACW&Y, Typhoid, Diptheria/Tetanus/Polio, and Cholera.  Rabies Japanese Encephelitis and Tick-bourne Encephelitis vaccines can be ordered specially but require payment upfront. * We are unable to give Yellow Fever Vaccinations at the moment as we are currently awaiting our re-registration as a Yellow Fever Centre.
Malaria tablets are not prescribed by the NHS – some are bought over the counter at a pharmacy privately, some require a private prescription that the surgery would issue, but the pharmacy or online pharmacy will charge for them.
